Tuesday 17 November 2009 - Jump up, jump up and get down!

She bends both her legs and then stands up again, but just can't figure out how to jump! CC wants to do what her brothers are doing, watching intently, trying hard! I think this is a sign of things to come....

Monday 16 November 2009 - my mate Zach

After a little bit of initial wariness (mostly around the sharing of toys) Celeste and Zach found a joint love of the fountains in Redfern park. Next time I'll get a video of the two of the cackling asthey get oaked by the surprise gushes of water. They also car-jacked a scooter from another kid and took it for a spin - see photos!

2 November - these shoes are made for walking!

After four weeks of toddling and considerable interest in mummy's shoes, trying to put her wee foot into my big shoes, CC was bought her first pair of shoes. Given mummy spent most of her childhood complaining about the boring navy sandals that were bought for her it was ironic that that was exactly what CC walked out with!

25 October - my friend Thomas

These photos were taken at a picnic for friend's birthday. Mathieu wasn't there leaving Celeste with all of Thomas' attention which she just loved! Lots of rides on a borrowed scooter and absolute delight (see photo series below) watching her big brother jumping off a nearby pole x

2 October 2009 - non, Non, NON!

Celeste has mastered a very important word in babyhood, NO! used to greatest effect when pushing food off her high-chair tray with sweeping gesture! also used a lot when you try to remove her from Thomas' arms, or when Vincent crushes her with the kiss of death x

30 September 2009 - Walk this way...

This week CC decided that she was a crawler no longer! maybe she got sick of being the only one a Vy's not on two little feet? Vy tells me that when Celeste tottered across the room to reach some toys, Clarissa and Zara both went up to her and gave her kisses - obvious proud of their little friend... I've attached some video here to show growing confidence x

Sept 2009 - a baby with trainer wheels?

Mathieu made us laugh when he said very seriously... "Tory you're luck with Celeste being happy all the time, because she a good baby for a beginner like you"

Sunday 6 Sept - Fathers' day!

We celebrated Vincent's 2nd fathers' day as the father of 3 (!!) this Sunday with a trip down south to the township of Bundeena, a lovely spot over the water from Cronulla set in a national park. Bundeena a bit of a haven for the artistic community and there was an 'artist trail' the day we were there - over 20 artist studios to wander around to. the rst of the day was spent lazying in the sun with our picnic lunch, CC very happy to be with all her boys x

4 Sept - standing up for myself

ok - standing is no problem - particular if i don't notice i'm standing! give CC the hand symbols and she gaily bangs them - completely unaware that she's standing up, once she stops she drops like a bird who stop

Easter weekend wedding

A beautiful Easter wedding weekend for Tory and Paul at Wiseman's Ferry... the family scrummed up quite well and the backdrop of the Hawkesbury river was beautiful. the boys particularly enjoyed the BBQ the following day at Tory and Paul's place - a easter egg hunt, the billabong and acres of bush to roam.

30 March - visiting mum and dad pre chemo

This visit was not a lot of laughs, with Dad's final results coming in and preparation for his chemotherapy to begin. CC tried to raise a few smiles at the hospital but we were all a bit tense with Dad still in pain.

Rolling over

playing with paper

Dad commented that she's obvious a very smart baby - not only reading at 5 months, but reading in french!

mossie bites

So when we arrived back in Australia we were alarmed when Celeste developed a crazy rash overnight, it was everywhere! At first the doctor thought it was 'school sores' perhaps caught from the baby cot on the plane. it was only on a second doctors visit that it was discovered that the 'rash' appears after the nights i left the bedroom window open and were in fact mossie bites! the last picture was taken at the Open Air cinema in the Botanical Gardens - with Kate and Matt.

first swim in the ocen - bronte rockpool

Around March i think - it was still a bit chilly for babycakes. she had a little intake of breath when we went in x

first swim in pool x

Me and C at the Ian Thorpe pool in Ultimo. Crossed wires meant that we didn't meet up with the mothers group, but we enjoyed thewater and the heated pool in particular. Celeste wore her first pair of swimmers a retro pair of pink floro bloomers x

30 January 2009 - Back in Oz

A good trip back, but exhaustion when we arrived - as demonstrated by picture left! Celeste veryhappy to go nude in thelast days of summer. Australia never looked so good and after a cat nap papa, Celeste and I had a late lunch at the Italian restaurant at north Bondi followed by a dip in the ocean - flat as a swimming pool today and filled with mums and babies x

January 2009 - Celeste's first 'piste'

3 gloriously sunny weeks at Courcheval with the family and aunite Kate. Here's some video of Celeste attempting her first piste in a toboggan outside the chalet, well guided by Thomas, Mathieu and Papa xx

January 2009 - Celeste's first piste

Courcheval and Celeste first time seeing snow. She's all kitted out in her white snowsuit with padding so thick that she's unable to move her arms and legs and resembles a human snowflake! She's sleeping well and goes for walks mid morning most days with Mamy, Granny or me... and sleeps 'en plein air' in the sunshine outside the window of the chalet!

January 2009 - La Montagne!

Three wintery weeks at Courcheval and Celeste first time seeing snow.

30 December - Boys Arrival and Berlin

The boys arrived today and were reunited with their little sister! Later than evening vincent and I left for Berlin and NYE with Selina, Noran and Claire... lovely but a bit heart rending to leave them and C for three days - the first time for me since her birth 5 months earlier...

25 December 2008 - Christmas Day!

CC's first christmas xxx Dressed in a little wool smock and tights, Celeste had here first Christmas in Paris, with Antonin, Florence, Oliver, Marine, and of course Mamy, Maurice and Granny - lots of attention! Her first Christmas presents were a sheepskin rug from Bardie and Grandpa, a retro print sundress from Jen and a book about the zoo, a vibrating cow from V's cousin, a stripy toy bird from Oliver, a flashing rubby duck, a snowsuit from Mamy, plate and spoon from Granny and toys (teething ring, 'shake it up' rattles) from Mummy and Papa, as well as lots of kisses! i love the before and after photos here, taken maybe 5 mins apart.

20 December 2008 - Crossing the Border

Little C clocked up here fourth country in as many months as she's been alive! Today we crossed the border into Germany on a whim to check out the town of Freiburg. Which turned out to be a wonderful idea... parked for free inthe centre, wandered into one of the biggest and most colourful marche de Noel we've been to, discovered a beautiful cathedral. Here's a few pictures...

18 December 2008 - Alsace Trip & Chateau du Haut Koenigsbourg

the perfect start to our Christmas wonderland holiday... a fairytale castle, crystal icicles and snow. Chateau du Haut Koenigsbourg (High King's Castle) was original built in 1147 and its past personifies the history of the region, with ownership tranferring back and forth between the Hapsburg empire and favoured royal houses... depending on who was best placed to manitain and occupy the strategically localed castle... it progressively fell into ruin over hundreds of years, until Williem II restored it completely at the end of the 19th century during the years after the French-Prussian wars when Alsace was lost to the French. The restoration was a sophisticated form of PR for the day, and was designed to curry favour and prodcue work for the local people.... The restoration costs millions, even in those days, and a source of some satification for the French when the fully restored castle (along with the Alsace!) was returned to them not long after following WWI

December - Alliance Francaise group

here's a picture of us with my Alliance Francaise group form the first course, ??, ?? and ?? on the pont ??. you can just see kitten on a pile of coats snoozing besides me... the boys joked that people would start giving us money like the gypsy families begging with small infants. didn't get a photo, but a Spanish photo shoot happening beside us with the perfect fashion backdrop, the Ile de Cite.

13 December - Weekend in London

C and i felt very mobile this weekend, travelling to London on the Eurostar in our new pusette, and backpack. Navigated our way thru the London underground all the way to Jen's in Balham... like a homing pigeon! Kitten proved to me quite an accomplished traveller, sleeping with no problem whereever i put the little angel, at Jen's and then at Selina / Noran's in north london on the Saturday night and even at Sunday lunch at ??. Camera stolen! so unfortunately no photos on the beautifully crisp blue skied day.

28 November 2008 - Laure and her Manoir

CC and i spent this weekend with Laure and her Manoir at Compiegne 1 hour north of Paris. Laure had a little cot set up for C complete with Christmas lights... highlights of the weekend were one of the best cup of hot chocolate I've ever had, our first Marche de Noel, and sunday lunch at Pierrefonds as fairytale village that i hope to go back to in Summer to go boating on the lake.

9 November 2008 - Becky & Clem's wedding

The gods smiled and the rainy weather of the week before cleared up for the weekend and the wedding. Gloriuse day and night, with clelebration that were very 'clem & bec' casual, relaxed but very thoughtful. Celeste stayed until sunset and then went back with the kids and the grown-ups had a great night! Mental imagine of the night: mum, dad and everyone groovying in a dancing circle to 'Oh What a Night"

November 2008 - Flakey Baby!

poor little C has bad case of cradle cap, Mummy finding it very had not to pick it off

November 2008 - Cousins

Matilda was pretty intersted in 'baby Celeste' and was also suprised at how into Celeste Magnus was despite the fact that she doesn't 'do' much at the moment! Here's a photo of a quiet moment between them

4 November 2008 - US Election and first roll!!

C's first roll took us (and her!) by surprise... All watching the US election results coming in (over before it began!) with kitten on her new (so aussie) skeepskin rug. To be honest i think the roll was more by accident than design and may have been helped along by a small nudge by Mum

25 September 2008 - Nuit Blanche

Saturday night was "Nuit Blanche" great event in paris where everything (transport / museums / bars etc.) stays open all night and there's special outdoor events (like the Tour de Monparnasse light extravagana pictured) dotted around the city. Pre-C i would have been back at dawn (!) but now Jen and i back home at a matronly 11pm to relieve Mamy who generously babysat for us x

25-26 October 2008 - Jen's visit to Paris

Auntie Jen visited this weekend and agrees that Celeste is the cutest baby in the world x Jen definiately held her own french wise and demonstrated that its possible for the Epworth family to speak decent french!

September 2008 - Albert Khan Jardin

Photos of a delicious day at Albert Khan Jardin, just 10 mins walk from Boulogne. Probably my favourite garden in the world, and crish and sunny day when Mamy and I visited with Celeste. took many photos of the japanese garden for our future home!

29 September 2008

Start my Alliance Francaise course today after taking my assessment test last Friday in a haze of jetlag - unsurprisingly got a pretty low rating - and got myself moved up a level. left little kitten with A for the first time today and now having pang of deep maternal guilt. Photo of A attached

29 September 2008

On the plane to France, little C sleep the entire way - even before the plane took off! everyone very nice the the poor mum flying solo...
